Secondary Basketball Information

All entries by Friday 24 June, please. If you are uncertain whether to enter or not, you will be able to withdraw from the leagues if, at a later date, your headteacher deems it necessary; so it is better to enter at this stage.

Manchester competitions available for both gender groups are:-

  • Year 7:  One off tournament in June (this will probably start around 1.00pm).
  • Year 8:  League fixtures throughout the season, with a final in April.
  • Teams are divided into groups, with semi-finals taking place before the finals date.
  • U14: League fixtures throughout the season, with a final in January/February. Teams are divided into groups, with semi-finals taking place before the finals date.
  • U16: League fixtures throughout the season, with a final in January/February. Teams are divided into groups, with semi-finals taking place before the finals date.

This season, semi-finals will be on a home/away basis with a total overall score deciding the winners e.g.

Team A  wins 32 – 22 in the first game.

Team A loses 20 – 40 in the second game.

Overall score is 52 – 62 in favour of Team B

For the semi-finals, teams will have to organise, and pay for, their own neutral officials.

We are assuming that there will be the usual Basketball England competitions for schools. However, their website has not yet been updated for next year.
